The Samauma: the tree that gave us our name

Saumama Foundation was born inspired by the Samauma, the giant kapok of the Amazon, a symbol of expansion, connection and rootedness. Its greatness reminds me that there are living forces capable of growing beyond any limit.

Thinking of that image, I understood that a giant kapok does not fit in any corporate representation. The Little Prince immediately came to mind, having to clear his small planet of baobabs so they would not grow large enough to destroy it.

That is how I want Saumama to be: an institution that grows with such strength and breadth that it becomes a solid reference, capable of transforming territories and communities, with deep roots and branches reaching out to the world.

Every project we structure follows that logic: deep roots — community governance, consent, trust — and branches to the world: markets, certifications, international allies. Without roots, branches fall. Thank you for being part of these dreams.
