We accompany the spaces where young people from the communities decide how they want to care for their territory. Governance is not inherited: it is built.
In the maloca, the new generations gather for something that rarely appears in climate project reports: deciding. Deciding how they want to care for their territory, which knowledge they want to preserve and which new tools they want to embrace.
Youth councils are the communities' answer to a hard question: who sustains a conservation project twenty years from now? The answer is not in technical documents — it is in the young people who today learn to read the territory with their elders and to read contracts with us.
Our role is to accompany without intruding: providing technical tools when asked, translating the language of environmental markets, and above all respecting that decisions are made there, in the circle of the maloca — not in an office in Bogotá.
Sustainability is not measured only in tonnes of carbon: it is measured in a community's capacity to lead, decide and sustain its projects across generations. Youth councils are exactly that, in action.
